Soda ash

Soda Ash is one of the basic materials for chemical industry, mainly used for metallurgy, glass, textile, dye printing, medicine, synthetic detergent, petroleum and food industry etc.

Applications

Primarily used for glass manufacture, Soda Ash also is used in i) air cleaning and water softening ii) manufacture of Caustic Soda and dyestuffs iii) metallurgy (processing of steel and extraction of iron etc) iv) flat glass, sanitary pottery, v) national defense (TNT manufacturing, 60% gelatin-type dynamite ) and some other aspects, such as rock oil refining, paper manufacturing, paint, salt refining, softening of hard water, soap, medicine , food and so on.

Soda Ash is produced in three grades: Light Soda Ash, Medium Soda Ash & Dense Soda Ash.

Differences & Uses

Dense Soda Ash is the high-quality Soda Ash that is primarily used in the production of glass. This is generally preferred over light Soda Ash in glass manufacture, because the particles are of a similar size to silica sand. It is also used in powdered detergents and cleaners, chemical processes, pool pH adjustment, industrial cleaning and textile preparation.

In the detergent manufacturing industry, Soda Ash Light is used to manufacture high-grade detergent powder. It makes detergents and soaps smoother surface. With lower density it is also used in food industry, water purification, etc. The difference between the grades lies in density and particle size. Light Soda Ash weighs approx. 0.77 grams per cubic centimeter, whilst dense Soda Ash weighs approx.1.06 grams per cubic centimeter.
